Ultrasound Imaging and Therapeutics Research Laboratory

Myeongsoo Kim

Myeongsoo received his B.S. degree (Biomedical Engineering & Materials Science and Engineering) and M.S. degree (Biomicrosystem Technology) at Korea University, South Korea. Myeongsoo is a Ph.D. candidate in BioE/BME program at Georgia Tech. At Georgia Tech, he received 1) BioE Outstanding Paper Award in 2024 and 2) BME Outstanding Fundamental/Basic Science Award in 2025.

His current research focuses on developing imaging contrast agents for ultrasound-guided photoacoustic imaging as well as optical coherence tomography. Specifically, his main research projects in the lab include the design of nanosensors as activatable imaging biomarkers to noninvasively monitor tumor responses upon therapeutic interventions, such as cancer immunotherapy, thereby predicting therapeutic efficacy earlier than is currently possible. Furthermore, he is developing external stimuli-responsive imaging contrast agents that enable visualization of specific molecular/cellular pathways with suppressed background tissue signals, resulting in exceptional imaging contrast and improved diagnostic accuracy.

If you are interested in undergraduate research with him in the lab, please feel free to reach out to Myeongsoo (mkim835@gatech.edu).
