Melissa Cadena is a PhD Student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University. Her research interests include photoacoustic imaging, and therapeutics.
Melissa received her Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering at University Texas at San Antonio. As an undergraduate, she was a MARC-U*Star Scholar in Dr. JingYong Ye’s Biophonics and NanoTechnology laboratory, working on label-free bio-sensing applications for cancer diagnosis and prognosis.
Outside of research, Melissa enjoys playing the clarinet, basketball, biking, hanging out with friends and spending time in nature. Fun fact: She is more Mexican than she looks!
